GETTING TO KNOW YAYOI KUSAMA

2nd grade students made a lovely and creative activity with their tutor Mónica. This was related to the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.

It was then when the Plurilingual department decided to immerse the students in the amazing world of this woman.

In the English lessons several activities were carried out: mini books, posters, reading activities, quizzes...

Also, in the Art lessons all classes made different activities such as pumpkins on plates, bottle cap art, painting on fabric with different materials, and hanging polka dot scuptures.

All of them were displayed in an exhibit that the whole school, both teachers and students, could enjoy for one week.

O alumnado de 2º de Primaria fixo unha fermosa e creativa actividade coa súa titora Mónica. Esta estaba relacionada coa artista xaponesa Yayoi Kusama.

Foi así como o departamento de plurilingüe decidiu mergullar ao alumnado no incrible mundo desta muller.

Na materia de Inglés leváranse a cabo varias actividades como a realización de mini-libros, lecturas, creación de posters, concursos.

Do mesmo xeito, na clase de Plástica fixeron diferentes actividades como cabazas feitas en platos, arte con tapas, pintura en teas con diversos materiales e esculturas con puntos, "os característicos "polka dots" da artista. Todo foi exposto nunha exposición da que tod@s puidemos desfrutar.

INTERVIEW WITH AN ARTIST

Last week, 5th and 6th grade students interviewed Susan Diab. Susan is an artist from  England. She writes and works in sculpture. You can listen to the students' questions and Susan's responses below!

A semana pasada o alumnado de 5º e 6º entrevistou a Susan Diab, unha artista inglesa que escribe e fai escultura. Podedes escoitar as preguntas e tamén as respostas de Susan no seguinte vídeo.

EASTER ACTIVITIES

 It's Easter time and during this week we have been doing some activities related to this celebration. Some of them have been: The Easter egg hunt, a quiz about this topic, an Easter egg toss and some songs.

It's been really fun! We hope you enjoy this break.

Estamos en Pascua e por iso estivemos facendo actividades relacionadas con esta festividade. Algunhas delas foron: A caza dos ovos, un concurso de preguntas sobre o tema, o xogo de lanzar e encestar os ovos e tamén cantamos algunhas cancións.

Foi todo moi divertido! Agardamos que gocedes deste descanso.

THE MENINAS BY VELÁZQUEZ & POINTILLISM

 In this unit the topic is "the family", that's why in the Art lesson we have chosen the famous painting the Meninas by Velázquez. Students have learned about  family members and at the same time they have been using the painting technique of pointillism.

They have been able to create their own versions of the painting by using this technique.

Here are the results! 👌

Nesta unidade estamos traballando co tema da familia, de aí que na clase de Plástica escolléramos o famoso cadro das Meninas de Velázquez. O alumnado aprendeu sobre membros da familia e ao mesmo tempo estivo practicando a técnica do puntillismo.

Foron quen de crear as súa propia versión deste cadro facendo uso desta técnica.

A FUN ACTIVITY TO PRACTICE VOCABULARY

 Games are an excellent way to develop students' communication skills😃. 3rd Grade students and Erin have played a game to practice the vocabulary of the family.

After presenting the members of John's family, students were asked to find out what member of the family each of their classmates was.

They loved the activity and had so much fun while practicing the language.👌

Os xogos son un xeito marabilloso para que o alumnado desenvolva as súas destrezas comunicativas. Na clase de 3º estivemos practicando o vocabulario da familia con Erin e utilizando o xogo como actividade.

Tras presentar aos membros da familia de John, pedíuselle ao alumnado que tentara descubrir que membro da familia era cada un d@s seus compañeir@s.

 Ao grupo encantoulle a actividade e pasáronno en grande ao mesmo tempo que empregaban o inglés.

                                                                       

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY IN THE ENGLISH CLASS

 It's March 8th and all students in 1st A have made these nice bookmarks writing the names of important women in their lives: mothers, grandmothers, friends. 

We need this day to remind ourselves that there is still a lot to do to get total equality between men and women.

 É 8 de marzo e todo o alumnado de 1º A fixo estes marcapáxinas con nomes de mulleres importantes na súa vida: nais, avoas, amigas...

Precisamos deste día para recordar que ainda queda moito por facer para conseguir unha total igualdade entre mulleres e homes.

THE WASHING LINE STORY

 Last week we read the story of  The Washing Line (by Jez Alborough) in kindergarten classes; it's a fun story where students can practice the vocabulary of  both clothes and animals.

Esta semana nos cursos de Educación Infantil estivemos lendo o libro: The Washing Line (Jez Alborough). Serviunos para aprender vocabulario da ropa e repasar os nomes dalgúns animais.

O feito de que conte con solapas que hai que ir abrindo para descubrir a que animal pertence cada prenda de ropa provoca moita emoción n@s cativ@s.
